Why Education Needs to Change
Traditional education was designed for a different time. One where memorisation mattered more than creativity, compliance more than curiosity.
But the world our teens are growing into doesn’t look like the past.
Today’s most in-demand skills, like critical thinking, emotional intelligence, collaboration and adaptability, are barely touched in exam-driven systems. Employers, universities and global thinkers all agree: real-world skills matter more than ever. But too many schools are stuck following rigid curriculums and teaching to tests.
That’s why so many young people leave school feeling uncertain, disengaged and unprepared.
At Learnlife, we’re changing that.
We help learners discover who they are, what drives them and how to thrive in a world that’s constantly evolving. Through personal learning plans, real-world projects and mentorship, we prepare teens for what’s next, whether that’s university, a career, or building something entirely their own.
Because your child deserves more than just grades. They deserve the skills, mindset and confidence to succeed on their terms.

Learners are greeted with a warm smile from Bene, our wonderful community host.
Through stories, debates and writing challenges, learners develop their reading, writing and speaking skills while diving into themes like identity, psychology, and culture.
From personal narratives to philosophical questions, Express builds confidence, creativity, and a voice that’s uniquely theirs.
On Fridays, learners spend three hours working on their passion project.
Passion projects are learner-led experiences where learners choose a topic they love, set their own goals, and create a project, developing real-world skills like problem-solving, creativity, and self-management along the way.
In Natural Systems, learners explore the wonders of science. From chemistry to biology to physics, they uncover how natural laws and elements connect to everyday life.
In Human Systems, learners journey through major moments in modern history, investigating how the past shapes the present. With choice, research, and creative projects at the core, learners build a deep understanding of the systems that impact our world today.
From carpentry to coding, learners dive into hands-on workshops led by industry experts.
Each studio is a space to explore real tools and challenges, whether designing wearable tech, creating digital art, building with wood, or cooking up something new.
Learners develop technical skills, grow their creativity, and connect big ideas to real-world action.
In these fun, focused sessions, learners strengthen core mathematical concepts like number theory, algebra, and geometry.
Whether filling gaps or stretching into new challenges, Math Dojo builds fluency, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of how math connects to the world.
Learners head home or stay at Learnlife (by choice!) to continue working on their projects.

FAQs
Yes. Our curriculum, called the Learnlife Competency Model, is recognised as a leading global education innovation. It’s built on years of research and best practices from pioneering educators around the world.
It aligns with the local Ministry of Education while integrating the critical skills learners need for a thriving future. These skills are embedded in our five key learning domains and delivered through what we call our Building Blocks:
-
Learning to Be
-
Learning to Think
-
Learning to Learn
-
Learning to Relate
-
Learning to Act
Our learning experiences promote agency, are rooted in real-world relevance, and draw from a variety of methodologies.
We prioritise deep learning and foundational skill development in everything we do.
Through our competency model, learners build strong academic foundations across literacy, numeracy, science, and other key domains, integrated with real-world application.
Our interdisciplinary approach connects learning across subjects and fosters skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and creativity.
Regular reflection, feedback, and authentic assessment help learners understand where they are and what’s next, while building confidence and independence.
En este marco, learners amplía gradualmente su comprensión del mundo en general.
We focus on authentic, competency-based assessment rather than traditional exams or grades.
Progress is captured throughout the year using the Learning Vitae, a dynamic tool that offers a holistic view of each learner’s growth. It provides clear insights into where learners are in their journey and includes tangible evidence of their achievements.
In addition, secondary learners share and reflect on their learning through:
- Showcases: Held once per cycle, these community events allow learners to present their work
- 360 Assessments: At the end of each cycle, learners reflect on their goals and share their growth with their families and learning guide. Parents also have the chance to contribute feedback.
Absolutely. Learners at the Urban Hub who meet the required criteria receive an American High School Diploma and can qualify for the Spanish ESO Certificate.

If learners need to pass an exam to get to their chosen pathway, we can adapt their schedule and help them prepare for this. Several learners have done this with no problem, in fact, their exam results are well above national benchmarks!
With personal mentorship and portfolio development, our graduates leave ready to take their next step. Confident, capable, and future-ready.
Learners have a pathways discussion to explore their options and make a plan to reach their goals. Their mentors support them throughout this process.
Our programmes are delivered in English. We offer Spanish and Catalan to develop language skills.
We celebrate diversity and multilingualism and provide many opportunities to develop language skills and an interest in local culture.
